BIO-ENERGY
 

In these last few years CO.T.IR. started some research activities on biomass and biofuel energetic chains.

CO.T.IR. staff participates to the Technical and Scientific Committee and to the agreement tables included in ReBios project  – agreement protocol for biomass energetic exploitation signed between Abruzzo Region and the Italian Ministry of Environment.

CO.T.IR. activity in agro-energetic field includes different aspects:

·      agronomic experimental activities in open field both for ligneous crops such as poplar in SRF (Short Rotation Forestry), and for oil-crops such as sunflower, colza, crambe and Brassica carinata.

·        territory planning activities to promote agri-energetic chains by means of Territorial Informative Systems.

During this last year CO.T.IR. also improved a new and very interesting research line, which includes the study of micro-seaweeds as means to produce oil to extract biofuel.
