GENERAL INFORMATION

CO.T.IR. is a Research Center created to study the aspects linked to irrigation on the Italian soil and the Mediterranean basin: particularly irrigation techniques and crops hydric needs. Our Centre carries out researches and studies concerning natural resources, landscape preservation and improvement, hydrologic models, yield compatibility and sustainability and their geographic origin and, at last, energy crop to produce Renewable Energy Biomass and Biofuel. With regard to foodstuffs traceability and some typical agroindustrial products characterization (milk, wine, cheese etc.) CO.T.IR. owns a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer.

ACTIVITIES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

CO.T.IR. main activities concern agriculture, environment and water management. It carries out territorial and environmental researches in order to know, to represent and to study natural processes linked to mankind’s activity. For this purpose it uses Territorial Informative Systems (SIT). Some of CO.T.IR. main researches concern irrigation, soil and crops management both on irrigated and non irrigated soils, crops simulation models and conservative agronomic practices. Our Center also uses a sophisticated instrument: the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and it started some research activities on biomass and Bio-diesel energy chain too.

SCIENTIFIC TRAINING

Among COTIR activities there is also scientific training on issues linked to agriculture, soil management, water resource rational use, innovativechniques monitoring and management.

Scientific Seminars and a Newsletter take care of information and diffusion of the principal activities.
